QUESTION
A friend of mine found a bag of pot in his child's room and when the child found out he was pretty upset that his father had gone through his room looking for this stuff. Is it wrong for a parent to go through a child's room?
ANSWER
- It's not wrong if you have a reason to suspect.
- Announce it - on the spot, not ahead of time.
- Explain the reasons you are concerned, or suspect.
- They will object, but do it anyway - a thorough search.
- If you find something - don't accept excuses and get help with your teen.
